Lab 6 learning journal

My learing journal of Lab 6.

THE FIRST LESSON I LEARNED IS TO SAVE THE ARTICLE ELSEWHERE. BEHANCE DOES NOT DO AUTOMATICALLY SAVE.
Learning goals

Make a 15 seconds animation with Adobe Character Animator

Edit puppet's details based on Chloe

Record and input an audio and design puppet's actions based on the audio
Introduction

Due to family reasons, I missed previous classes, and this is my first learning journal. Since I realized that I need to finish a learning journal after I made the animation, I do not have many materials to support this learning journal. So the majority part of this learning journal will be words.

Puppet design

My very first step in designing the puppet is changing the front hair. I made the change even before the lecture was over. Now I cannot tell why I decided to make the puppet carry a traffic light in front of his forehead, the idea just came to my mind. As a result, I kept it in my final design as the icon of the new puppet.

The second step was changing the hairstyle and facial details. It was not a problem until I recorded and uploaded my audio. I saw a female puppet that used my voice to talk to me, with my face showing in the top right corner. It was so weird. So I changed the hairstyle and facial details to make me feel less weird.

The last thing I changed is the clothes details. I slightly changed the clothes' colour and the picture on the clothes, the idea came from the logo of Adidas.

Challenges

During my work, I found something challenging. The first thing is about skin colour. At first, I tried to change different skin colours, but after many attempts, none of my choices makes the puppet looks like a human as the original colour does. Unlike the clothes colour, it is very hard to find an acceptable skin colour. The whole thing inspired me that maybe human eyes are picky on human body parts. So I should be more careful in the future if I am going to design a human character.

The second challenge I found is about body movement. I tried to drag the puppet’s arms with my mouse to match my words, but eventually, I still caught some strange angles when reviewing the animation, which also makes the puppet less like a human. As a result, I used the trigger to organize the puppet’s movement. Maybe the body Synchronization in the future will do a better job.

Summary

In brief, thanks to Nova’s lecture, the whole process is easier than I thought. Puppet design, audio upload, lip synchronization, body movement, eye movement. I will say that I achieved my study goals, and I think I can finish the process by myself again in the future.

Thank you for reading my learning journal.
